About Us

Background

Jersey New Zealand is a non-profit breed organisation incorporated on 6th November, 1902 to support Jersey breeders in New Zealand. The organisation has its own Herd Book and is responsible for the registration of members’ animals. Head office for Jersey New Zealand is in rural Hamilton, at the Livestock Improvement building, corner of Ruakura Road and Morrinsville Highway, RD 4, Hamilton 3284.

Governance

Four elected Directors comprise the Jersey New Zealand Council, together with one appointed Director. Representation is across the North and South Islands. The Council meets three to four times a year with teleconferences occurring as required. Elected members retire on a rotational basis, so serve a four year term with opportunity to stand again on retirement. The current Council President is Mr. Brian Carter. A list of Councillors is attached as Appendix A.

Personnel

Jersey New Zealand currently has six employees, five full time and one part time. Four are based at Head office in Hamilton. Jenny Taylor is the General Manager and Council secretary. She co-ordinates all Jersey New Zealand activities and has a major role in communication services with Council, staff, domestic and international customers and Industry personnel. She represents Jersey New Zealand at all major events. Her role also includes responsibility for financial matters. She leads the office administration and advice on registry processing.

Other employees are Angela Mackenzie(Communications Officer); Sheila Horner (Information Officer and Jersey Marketing Service coordinator); and Jackie Kennedy (Administration Officer and TOP coordinator). Gary Falkner and Grant Aiken are the Senior Sales Consultant and Sales Consultant respectively for Jersey Marketing Service Ltd (JMS). They are based at Hamilton and Whangarei, respectively.
