POSTAL BALLOT RESULTS
Thank you to all those eligible members who returned their votes in the recent postal ballot.

Postal Ballot 1:
The results are as follows:
1. That rule 17.2 be revoked

Rule 17.2 currently reads:
As far as possible, the Council membership shall consist of a minimum of one elected member from each of the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

2. That rule 20.6 be revoked and replaced with the following rule:

Rule 20.6
The form of the voting papers shall provide for one director to be elected at the election.

Rule 20.6 currently reads:
The form of the voting papers shall provide for one directorship to be elected at the election and shall comply with the following requirements:
(a) That the Council membership comprises a minimum of one elected director from each of the North and South Islands of New Zealand.
(b) Any director shall ordinarily be resident in New Zealand and if the election is for a director from either the North or South Islands, the director elected must ordinarily be resident in the island for which the directorship election is being held.
(c) If no candidate is available or forthcoming from either the North or South Island so as to enable the composition of the Council to comply with sub-clause 20.6(a) above, nominations may be accepted from the other island, but every effort shall be made at subsequent elections to ensure representation on the Council by members from both the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

3. That the following rule be added as rule 20.16.

Rule 20.16
No person will be eligible to stand as a director who is not ordinarily resident in New Zealand. As to whether a person is ordinarily resident in New Zealand will be decided by the President whose decision will be final and binding.

MOTION PASSED WITH 88.49% MAJORITY

Postal Ballot 2:
That Rule 44 be revoked and replaced with the following rule:

Rule 44
If upon winding up or dissolution of this Association there remains after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities, any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid or distributed among the members of the association but shall be given or transferred to some other charitable New Zealand institution or institutions having objectives similar to the objectives of the association to be determined by the members of the association at or before the time of dissolution or in default thereof by such Judge of the High Court as may have acquired jurisdiction in the matter.

Rule 44 currently reads:
If upon winding up or dissolution of this Association there remains after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities, any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid or distributed among the members of the association but shall be given or transferred to some other New Zealand institution or institutions having objectives similar to the objectives of the association to be determined by the members of the association at or before the time of dissolution or in default thereof by such Judge of the High Court as may have acquired jurisdiction in the matter.

MOTION PASSED WITH 92.03% MAJORITY

You will see that we only just reached the 25% return mark for the ballot to take effect. We were disappointed at the number of votes returned and would like to remind and encourage members to actively take part in all aspects of their association.
