 Registrations
Naming options
An important part of registration is naming the animal. There are several ways you can name your animals.
- E-Registration using the naming service. The naming service is a computer based system to name your animals if you choose not to name them yourself. The computer system names your animals by using your herd prefix and part of the birth identity of the animal. For example; to register BCD 0322, the computer system will name theanimal ‘Jerseyville 0322’ and include a registration suffix where necessary. If you want to name a few animals not using the naming service.
- E-Registration, naming your animals using MINDA services. You can name your animals on line using MindaPro or MindaLink or entered manually via the Animal Detail Form. Animal Detail Forms can be obtained through MINDA. As you record each calf, you can write the name of each animal on this form. The names will be entered as part of the calf details and the animals can then be registered using these names. You must enter your herd prefix at the start of each animal’s name or the computer will default to the naming service.
Note: When using the E-Registration options, please do not enter the status suffix for each animal but you must allow room for it within the 25 spaces when naming the animal. The computer inserts status suffixes during processing.
- Manual registration, naming your animals on an Animals Eligible for Registration (AER)form. You can request an AER form from Jersey New Zealand or MINDA to write in the name of each animal. An AER is a preprinted form recording calf, sire and dam information. The Jersey New Zealand office will then manually enter the name and register each animal individually. If your name is on the Jersey New Zealand standing order list, the AER form will be sent to you automatically from November onward every year. The price for an AER is $15.00 for the report and 6 cents for each animal recorded.
Note: This report is only available for MINDA clients.
- Manual registration, naming your animals on a Multiple Registration Application form.Multiple Registration Application forms (green forms) can be obtained through Jersey New Zealandand are useful if you want to register a small number of animals. You can write the name of eachanimal on this form. The Jersey New Zealand office will then manually enter the name and registereach animal individually.
- Manual registration, alternative requests for animal registration.
- Fax requests. You can fax your request to register animals. The fax should include: birth identification, sex, date of birth, name (for the animal), identification and name of sire, identification and name of dam. Ensure the writing on the fax is tidy and easy to read.
Note: Do not use coloured paper as this does not always fax through clearly
